It is with deep sadness and loss that we note the passing of Sheikh Ahmad Odeh, the Imam of the West End Mosque in Brisbane.

Sheikh Ahmad has been a pillar of the Muslim community in Brisbane for over 40 years and was instrumental in the establishment of the Islamic College of Brisbane. He served his community, on a volunteer basis, in all aspects of its religious needs and was respected by all who new him.

On behalf of the Board, and the Muslim community, Muslims Australia – AFIC President Dr Rateb Jneid said, “ We extend our thoughts and prayers to the Sheikh’s family in this difficult time and pray that Allah, Most Exalted, places tranquillity in their hearts and eases their burden.”

We ask that Allah, Most High, shower the Sheikh with His Mercy, forgive his shortcomings and through his Infinite Generosity grant the Sheikh a place in the highest of the heavens.

We share the grief and sadness of the Brisbane community and extend our condolences to the family, friends and relatives of Sheikh Ahmad.
