Islamic Education: Most Islamic Societies have weekend schools. These are supported by State Councils. Islamic instructors are made available to schools with high numbers of Muslim students. Islamic religious and cultural information seminars are delivered to non-Muslim organizations on request. All Islamic Societies have Imams. AFIC subsidizes imams where required in order to coordinate and supervise Islamic educational activities at society level. In states with many Islamic Societies a Board of Imams oversees religious educational matters. New schools have been established in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. The newest of our schools is the Islamic College of South Australia which is presently operating and expanding its numbers for a growing Islamic community. The Principal, Mr Robert Mayse brings many years of experience and is overseeing the school's development during these early days. (Please see Schools & Mosques)
